Employee Spotlight: Ted Engelhardt
Each month, CDR features a spotlight of one of our employees. This month we are learning more about Ted Engelhardt, Associate Director, Analytics.
What is your favorite thing about working at CDR?
The Analytics Team! They work hard, care about each other, and teach me something every day.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Pigs in a blanket.
Who do you donate to or volunteer with?
Southern Poverty Law Center
Where was the last place you traveled (for fun or for work)?
Chicago for a wedding. The weekend before that, Syracuse for a wedding. A couple months before that, Cincinnati for a wedding. I’m a wonderful wedding guest.
Where is one city or country you would love to visit?
What keeps you motivated?
Helping people—the people our clients serve, but also coworkers—solving puzzles, learning, and cool data visualizations.
What was your first job and what did it teach you?
Grounds crew at a softball park. It taught me that hard work pays off, but you have to be patient while the benefits build up. I also learned that the one constant in the entertainment industry is there’s always more trash to take out.
If you could be a super hero, which one would you be?
If I could have a superpower, I’d want the ability to launch into spontaneous musical numbers.
Past, present, or future, who would you like to have a conversation with? … why?
Roger Ebert (movie critic), Zadie Smith (novelist, but I like her essays), and Joe Posnanski (sportswriter)—all people who have deep, technical knowledge in their fields, but always connect with readers’ sheer love of the subject material.
What is your dream car?
One that never needs to go to the mechanic.
